The Museum of Herzegovina

It is situated in The Old Town. The building of the museum was Austrian barracks in the end of the 19th century. It was founded in 1952 as "Sreski zavicajni muzej Trebinje" (The Museum of District Trebinje). Since 1958 its name was "Zavicajni muzej" (The Museum of Trebinje). In 1994 the name was unofficially changed into "Muzej Hercegovine" (The Museum of Herzegovina). It was officially done in 2001. The museum did the first archeological excavation in 1957. It published 17 books till now. The museum has rooms for periodical exhibitions and the hall for concerts. It has also the library with many books about science and art. Constant exibit of museum: - the collection of the poet Jovan Ducic - ethnological exhibits - archeological collection - memorial exhibition of Atanasije Popovic's pictures - the gallery of paintress Milena Sotra
